The Heron

The Story of Our Logo

Our logo embodies the spirit of the Kotuku (Heron) and the essence of Authentic Leadership. Like the Kotuku, Authentic Leaders are rare and revered, embodying wisdom, resilience, and purpose.

The arrowhead at the centre represents the upward journey of becoming an Authentic Leader, while the Kotuku’s traits—adaptability, patience, and determination—mirror the qualities needed to thrive, lead with integrity, and inspire others.

Though solitary at times, the Kotuku flourishes in unity, reflecting the power of community and the courage to pursue authenticity.

The Impact of Authentic Leadership Training with WALT Institute

Dr Haruna Suzuki-Kerr

Research Fellow at
University of Auckland

“Thank you so much for all your support and amazing coaching and workshops. The skills learned from you have really helped me to improve my leadership, secure a multimillion dollar grant and keep going.”

Dr Jun Yang

Research Scientist at Monash Health and Hudson Institute

"The workshop was just a lot more interactive and there were some good practical exercises that I enjoyed. For example, I took away lots of tips on exercises including stillness and active mindfulness - that will help me to implement breaks in my very busy life."

Dr Jess Chadderton

Impact Fellow at Health Transformation Lab RMIT

"I really liked this workshop because even though it's helping me with my Ph.D., I really think the takeaway messages can be applied to so many aspects of life; relationships, career, health."

Sandra Robinson

Research Officer at
Monash University
